Rig Manager
Job Description: Provide leadership and technical support to a mixed crew of expatriate and Nigerian contractors operating a barge drilling rig in Nigeria. Responsible for all aspects of the rig operation.

The ideal candidate will have barge rig or offshore rig experience in a senior leadership role, strong leadership skills, and experience working with an international crew.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conduct all operational aspects including rig moves, rig-up/rig-down and drilling operations
  • Manage and direct the daily activities of the rig crew in a safe and workmanlike manner
  • Conduct pre-tour meetings with the rig crews to communicate daily objectives, special instructions, safety precautions and training activities as required
  • Oversee the purchase of expendables and rig supplies using the approved processes
  • Ensure the use of the CMMS system (eMaint) for rig maintenance
  • Ensure that the rig and supporting equipment are properly maintained
  • Operate the rig in accordance with industry, environmental, local, government, and company regulations and standards
  • Provide technical support and advice as needed to the drilling contractor and drilling operator
  • Maintain the daily paperwork, reports and other aspects of business pertaining to the rig
  • Enforce high standards of safety for all aspects of rig operations
  • Ensure the permit to work system and other HSE management tools are present and used by all crew members
  • Report all incidents or injuries to self or crew members which occur, regardless of seriousness, in accordance with SDF procedure

 

Required Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

 

  • 5+ years rig management experience on a barge or off-shore drilling rig
  • High School graduate, or GED
  • Ability to travel overseas and remain for extended periods of time (per contract)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead, train and mentor employees on a personal level
  • Able to work in high places for extended periods of time.
  • Able to use Microsoft office, compose, send & receive email
  • Current vaccinations for travel to west Africa
  • Current passport (does not expire within 1 year)
  • Current well-control, level 4 certification
  • Current OPITO approved BOSIET Course
  • Current First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogens Certificate
Tour Pusher
Job Description: Provide leadership and technical support to a mixed crew of expatriate and Nigerian contractors operating a barge drilling rig in Nigeria during a 12-hour night shift or as needed by the rig manager. Responsibilities include maintaining the ton miles register ensuring maintenance of mud pump log books and conferring with the Rig Manager as required. Ensure strict adherence to company HSE rules and regulations by all personnel (company and contractor) working on the rig during assigned shift.
The ideal candidate will have barge rig or offshore rig experience in a leadership role, strong leadership skills, and experience working with an international crew.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conduct pre-tour meetings with the rig crews to communicate daily objectives, special instructions, safety precautions and training activities as required

  • Ensure that scheduled maintenance, inspection and monitoring activities are completed in atimely manner, including reporting of any overdue PMS as required by company practice
  • Operate the rig in accordance with industry, environmental, local, government, and company regulations and standards
  • Provide technical support and advice as needed to the drilling contractor and drilling operator
  • Maintain the daily paperwork, reports and other aspects of business pertaining to the rig
  • Enforce high standards of safety for all aspects of rig operations

Driller
Job Description: Provide leadership and technical support to a mixed crew of expatriate and Nigerian contractors operating a barge drilling rig in Nigeria. Supervise and carry out drilling, well control and other work in connection with the drilling operations. Ensure the safe operation of the drilling control system; drawworks; pipe handling systems; mud circulating systems; and Blow-out prevention (BOP) equipment in accordance with the requirements specified in the operating procedures. The ideal candidate will have barge rig or offshore rig experience, good leadership skills, and experience working with an international crew.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage and direct the activities of the rig crew while on duty
  • Participate in pre-tour meetings with the rig crew to communicate daily objectives, special instructions, safety precautions and training activities as required
  • Supervise the derrick hands, roughnecks, and roustabouts to ensure safe operations
  • Operate the rig in accordance with industry, environmental, local, government, and company regulations and standards
  • Enforce high standards of safety for all aspects of rig operations
  • Ensure the permit to work system and other HSE management tools used by all crew members
  • Report all incidents or injuries to self or crew members which occur, regardless of seriousness, in accordance with company procedure
  • Be familiar with the drilling program, BHA tally and drilling parameters.
  • Ensure that operations are planned, organized, supervised and executed in accordance with drilling programs.
  • Predict the borehole problems and take preventative measures to avoid the borehole problems in advance.
  • Report borehole abnormal situations to rig manager in a timely manner

Required Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • 5+ years drilling experience on a barge or off-shore drilling rig
  • 2+ years’ experience as an assistant driller on a barge or off-shore drilling rig
  • High School graduate, or GED
  • Ability to travel overseas and remain for extended periods of time (per contract)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work in high places for extended periods of time.
  • Current vaccinations for travel to west Africa
  • Current passport (does not expire within 1 year)
  • Current well-control, driller level certification
  • Current OPITO approved BOSIET Course
  • Current First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogens Certificate
